Introducing Pickles!!
My new, cute, fuzzy, chubby, little hamster!
Pickles is a Russian Dwarf Hamster
PetSmart Pets in the Classroom Program
Pickles is a grant from Petsmart! My first hamster, Itchy, also was from this program.
You apply in the Fall and it takes a few weeks for them to reply.
You receive coupons to receive a cage, food and bedding and money toward the hamster. Plus an extra $25. In the Fall I will apply for a sustaining grant to give me $50 to help with things.
You can also get a Fancy Rat, Gunea Pig, Fish, Bearded Dragon, Leopard Gecko or a snake. Click on Petsmart for details.
I would love to know if you get a grant! The kids love having a pet in the classroom. They help with the cleaning too! If you're scared of picking them up ~ no worries, the kids will do that too!!
These are the two cages that I have gotten with the program. Pickles is loving exploring between the two. When I get the back to the classroom in the Fall I will expand his tubing. Right now I'm short on space.
Pickles is so cute and what a cute name!

First Grade Found Me
Pickles is so cute. We should introduce Pickles to my hamster Pinky. She might be jealous of Pickles' awesome cage, though! Pinky also came from the Pets In The Classroom Program! Isn't that GREAT program! I love having her around! We had two hamsters, but Curly, the three legged hamster went on to the great hamster wheel in the sky. Did you know PetSmart also does FREE hamster adoptions?! Just FYI!
